Code of Conduct
Purpose of Rule.
These rules are supplementary to the Constitution of Rugeley Phoenix Activities Club, a copy of which is available on request.
These rules govern the conduct of the Club`s Committee and members, and the running of members` events.
Where there is a conflict between these rules and the Constitution, the constitution takes precedence.
2. Objects.
The objects of the club as stated in the Constitution are:
To advance the education of people over 50 years providing activities to build new capacity and enhance existing skills, thus retaining their physical and mental health.
To provide a Club environment which is friendly and provides opportunities for members of the community over 50 years to meet socially and explorer new activities.
To combat isolation by providing a meeting place where members of the club are encouraged to participate from which they may otherwise be excluded.
3. Membership.
a) Membership is open to all individuals over the age of 50.
b) Membership is subject to:
1. Payment of annual subscription at a rate determined by the Committee and Payable on or before 1 January.
2. Compliance with these rules.
Management.
a) The Club is managed by a Committee and Officers as set out in clause 6,7 and of its Constitution.
b) All members of the club will be entitled to speak and vote at Annual General meeting where called.
Activities.
The club will organise activities in accordance with clauses 5 and 6 of its constitution.
Depending on the type of activity members will be required to pay a fee or charge by means of a contribution to the cost of that activity.
At its discretion, the Committee may provide funding for certain activities.
6. Payment for Outing/Trips.
Members are required to pay for outing and trips in full at the time of booking.
This payment is non-refundable, but the committee may exercise a discretion if there is a waiting list and the ticket can be-resold.
7. Suspension and expulsion.
a) The Committee my suspend any member who offends against the rules of the club or whose conduct, in the opinion of the Committee, renders him/her unfit for the membership of the club.
Examples of such conduct includes:
Theft, Dishonesty, or Fraud.
Assault, Act of violence, or Aggression.
Unacceptable use of obscene or abusive language ( including language of a discriminatory nature ).
Deliberate damage to property.
Acts of indecency or sexual harassment.
A disregard for health and safety.
Use of club activities to further personal or financial interests.
Any behaviour conflicting with the clubs objects.
This list is not exhaustive:
b) Consent of three or more members of the committee is required to suspend a member.
c) Following suspension, the committee will hold a meeting within 14 days to decide the following:
1) To withdraw the suspension.
2) To continue the suspension for the prescribed period.
3) To expel a member.
4) To ban the member from prescribed club activities or events.
d) The member will be entitled to make a written representations to the committee before the meeting.
e) Where there is factual dispute as to the members conduct, the committee will hear verbal representation from the members and any witnesses.
f) Where a member has been expelled they not be readmitted to the club without the approval of two thirds of the committee.
8. Amendment to the Rules.
Any amendment to these rules will require a two thirds majority vote at a committee meeting
