2nd Rugeley Scouts Group

Members from 2nd Rugeley Scout Group, the stags explorers and Cannock chase network are taking part in a community project in Kenya later this year to help renovate a nursery age room and outdoor space for a local school in Mombasa.

This is an exciting experience for the Groups and much needed support for the Kididima School who facilitate the education and care for 150 poor and needy children from the age of 3 years old.

Girlguiding Staffordshire has been supporting the school for over 10 years with regular visits and projects at the school enabling them to now have a kitchen at the school to ensure the children have at least one cooked meal a day.

While we are there we will be supporting the local Scouts and spending activity days with the local group so we can learn some skills from them ( Gadgets are their specialty ) and also teach them some of ours.

Our plea for help is our donations we are taking with us, they need to be able to pack into a 20kg suitcase ( we have 19 0f them ).

we are looking for:

Old outdoor or indoor preschool toys.

Wooden spoons for an outdoor Mud Mitchem.

Mixing bowls.

Children's T-shirts/shorts/dresses ( new or that a child has outgrown ).

Pencils.

Health products ( Toothpaste, toothbrushes, Sanitary products ).

Wiped old Laptops for the teachers and older students to be able to accommodate their new online curriculum?.

Rubbers.

Rulers.

Paintbrushes ( for painting the walls and finer detail ones for children's painting ).

old CD's to paint.

Stones for painting.

String/ Cord.

Chalk.

Pom-poms for counting.

Lollipop sticks.

Jam jar lids.

Rubber bands.

We are also fundraising to be able to buy Scout Uniform to allow 30 members of the school to attend scouts this looks to be around £30pp.

Most parents struggle to raise the £2 a day to send their children to school, the only requirement for scouts is for them to wear a uniform.
