GAWSWORTH HALL AND MANCHESTER CANAL TRIP WITH ON-BOARD 3 COURSE LUNCH 29th APRIL 2026 & 12th MAY 2026

This Stafford Walton Phoenix day outing was advertised in the November Newsletter, and it has proved popular, we currently have 84 booked. We are now running it twice – on Wednesday 29th April and again, with the same itinerary, on Tuesday 12th May 2026.

We have 4 places still available on 29th May, and 12 places on 12th May. We are now inviting members of the other Phoenix Clubs to fill any of these places, please tell your members about this. If any are interested, please ask them to phone me, so I can reserve places for them, and they can then send the booking with the form below.

Cost of £57.00 includes coach fare, driver's gratuity, entry and guide booklet to Gawsworth Hall and the meal onboard the cruise.

GAWSWORTH HALL AND MANCHESTER CANAL TRIP WITH ON-BOARD 3 COURSE LUNCH 29th APRIL 2026 & 12th MAY 2026

Gawsworth Hall is well known for the musical events held there, and the house itself is very special. This stunning Cheshire Tudor Manor House was built in 1480 and is a lived-in historic house. We will have a self-paced tour guided by booklets we will each be given, with members of the owning family to welcome us and be on hand to point out many unique features and answer any questions, which makes it quite special. The Tea-Room will be open, and there will be time for a look around the beautiful gardens before we leave.

Our coach now takes us to Manchester for a delightful circular canal cruise with onboard 3 course meal -including the Bridgwater Canal, the River Irwell and the Manchester Ship Canal - by award-winning City Centre Cruises. The main course is Chicken or Vegetarian, special diets are catered for. There is full commentary of the many points of interest, and the boat has onboard bar and toilets.

Dear All, I am writing to you to let you know that, following the success of a similar holiday earlier this year, Penkridge Phoenix Club is organising another holiday for May 2026 and is happy to give our friends in other Phoenix Cubs the opportunity to join them. Next year's holiday is to Melrose, a small town in the Scottish borders about an hour south of Edinburgh. Information on the holiday, including hotel and excursions, and contact details for enquiries and bookings, is on the attached flyer. I would be grateful if you could publicise this and circulate to your members, asking anyone interested to contact me as soon as possible, as these holidays need to be booked some time in advance. The aim is to have a coach for the exclusive use of our group. For this we need a minimum of 30 people and we already have several bookings, but with a whole coach at our disposal we can take many more, 40+. The holiday is operated by Alfa Travel, a reputable company with their own coaches and hotels. More information can be found on their website.
